#4: The DIII Presidents Council took a formal position on five proposals for January’s NCAA Convention – notably opposing the multiple AQ model for leagues with at least 12 members and changes around how seasons of eligibility are charged. Key topics of conversation included NIL, with the council supporting a resolution to have the governance structure monitor the impact of NIL on DIII, eligibility and the division’s structure. Chair/Juniata President Jim Troha: “As the Association and Division III continue to navigate the evolving landscape of higher education and athletics, the council has endorsed a focused review of key issues — including championship access, eligibility standards and membership criteria. This effort builds on recent evaluations by Deloitte (finances), Lewis Rice (Enrichment Fund) and the Division III Philosophy Working Group. The council urges Division III presidents and chancellors to attend this year's Convention and actively engage in these critical discussions.” (link)

#3: Messiah Men’s Lacrosse has been suspended following an investigation into off-campus hazing. University Assoc. VP of Marketing and Communications Carla Gross tells PennLive’s Tom De Martini: “The University takes all reports of interpersonal harm, including hazing, with the utmost seriousness. Hazing includes a spectrum of harmful experiences under state and federal law. And while these allegations would qualify as hazing per university policy, it is appropriate to acknowledge that these specific allegations do not include violence.” (link)
