#9: Colorado Mesa has launched a new satirical campaign, with a fictional Featherstone University, with the tagline “Not all who arrive are received. You are… for now,” and this blurb “The secret to success? Surrounding yourself with people who pronounce ‘Versailles’ correctly.” CMU President John Marshall: “A lot of universities are caught up in this game where it’s, we’re trying to be Harvard-like or something. Man, I’m not interested in that at all. If you have an endowment that you could scholarship every single kid twice over, and you still charge $100,000, there’s only one reason for that, and it’s to keep people out. And what we’re trying to do is fundamentally something different. […] I fundamentally know, we all fundamentally know, we’re not welcome in those other spaces. #3: Texas A&M-International AD Griz Zimmerman has retired after a dozen years at the helm. Zimmerman: “It’s been a great ride and I’m tremendously proud of my work here at TAMIU. We’ve built solid programs, had remarkable coaches and administrative staff, and top-notch student athletes who play with dedication, grit and heart, leaving everything on the court, field or course. TAMIU and its administration embraced our programs and have provided stellar support. It’s a bittersweet time for me to leave this, but I am confident that great growth and opportunity are ahead, and Dustdevil Athletics will thrive.” VP for Enrollment Management Juan Garcia Jr. will chair the search committee and Director of Athletic Compliance Henry Miller will serve as Interim AD. #1: The CACC announces the addition of Monroe (NJCAA) as its 12th member. Commissioner Dan Mara: “Monroe is committed to the entire student-athlete experience including athletics, academics and well-being. This was evident during the school’s application to the CACC. The institution's mission and values align perfectly with those of the CACC. […] In the current higher education environment, conferences and universities need to be creative and nimble to keep moving forward.
