#9: Baylor President Linda Livingstone is leading the search process to replace AD Mack Rhoades, marking the “first time in her tenure that she’s had to fill such a high-profile position in the athletic department,” per the Waco Tribune-Herald’s Brice Cherry, who notes Livingstone and the university “need to find a forward-thinking AD, first and foremost.” Additionally, the individual must have a “track record of healthy fundraising, who can identify and lure quality coaches, and who understands how to navigate the unique financial landscape in modern college athletics.” Finding someone adept at “identifying and hiring good coaches will be critical,” as Football HC Dave Aranda’s seat “isn’t just hot, it’s been doused in kerosene and fully engulfed in flames.” Cherry: “Linda Livingstone has a tough chore ahead of her. She really needs to knock this athletic director hire out of the park.” More. (link)

#8: Texas welcomes former UCLA Women’s Soccer HC Margueritte Bates (Aozasa) as its new HC. (link)

#7: Congratulations to the Oklahoma State men’s cross country and NC State women’s cross country teams for winning their respective NCAA championships. It was the Cowboys second win in three seasons and the fifth in program history. For the Wolfpack, it was their fourth title in five years. (link)

#6: The Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Mac Engel reports that Baylor AD Mack Rhoades’ exit was a “formality, and delayed only as the parties negotiated a settlement,” adding: “Whatever the specifics behind Rhoades’ exit, it is an unfortunate conclusion to a good tenure for an administrator. It also says that Baylor is preparing for bigger changes in its athletic department.” (link)

#5: As two-thirds of DI members voted to rescind the rule change that would have allowed student-athletes and staff to bet on pro sports, the ban on pro sports gambling will remain in place for all divisions. (link)

#4: Have a look: Vanderbilt has an ad running in LaGuardia Airport calling themselves “New York’s SEC team.” (link)

#3: The Big 12 will acquire a 15% stake in the Players Era Festival on a five-year deal that will include the top eight Big 12 teams in the field, starting next year when the tournament expands to 32 teams, and no less than $50M in revenue to Big 12 hoops programs in rights fees. SBJ's Ben Portnoy adds: “Players Era is in the final year of a two-year deal with TNT for its broadcast rights. Tournament  representatives are in discussions with broadcast partners that could include ESPN, Fox, Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery, sources told SBJ. The expectation, too, is Players Era would fetch a lengthier deal than its initial agreement with TNT, though conversations remain ongoing.” EverWonder Studio CEO Ian Orefice: “We’re a big believer that the people creating the product should be part of the success of that venture. And if you look at traditional rights, media companies and other event organizers would pay rights fees to a conference for their rights, but then they go out and monetize those rights separately. We really believe in a long-term partnership and you can’t do that without both partners feeling like they have a stake in the success of a property.” Commissioner Brett Yormark adds: “My business, the business that I’m in, candidly, is value creation for my membership. Wherever I can create value, it’s upon me as the commissioner to explore it. This is a way to do it.” (link, link)

#2: The FCS Playoff field is set with North Dakota State, Montana State, Montana and Tarleton as the top four seeds, respectively. Also notable: Harvard and Yale made the field in the first season Ivy League teams are eligible. Here’s the full bracket. (link); First four out: Monmouth, Presbyterian, Southern Utah & Austin Peay. #1: ULM is finalizing a deal to name Oral Roberts Deputy AD for Development SJ Tuohy as its next AD, per Yahoo’s Ross Dellenger. (link)
