#9: The NJCU Board of Trustees has accepted a proposal to merge with Kean. NJCU Interim President Andres Acebo: “This next phase is more than an administrative step — it is the deliberate construction of a bridge to our second century. By aligning our strengths with those of Kean University, we are setting the stage for a collaborative journey that will expand our academic horizons and deepen our community impact.” Kean President Lamont Repollet: “Over the next several weeks, we will negotiate a letter of intent with NJCU that begins a thoughtful and hopefully successful process of bringing the long-serving institution into the Kean University system as Kean Jersey City. #8: Northland announces it will close at the end of this academic year. Board of Trustees Chair Ted Bristol: “Despite the collaborative efforts of the entire Northland family, we no longer have the resources needed to navigate the economic and demographic storms endangering small, liberal arts institutions today. With declining enrollment and soaring costs, it takes more to operate the College than we raise in tuition. Even after enacting aggressive measures to cut costs and raise revenues, Northland College has no sustainable path forward.” (link); The UMAC is planning to go forward into 2025-26 as a seven-member league. Per the conference, NC does plan to complete the 2025 Baseball and Softball seasons. (link)

#7: Nichols VP/AD Jack Hayes departs after three years leading the Bison to become Assoc. AD for Principal Gifts at Connecticut (DI). Hayes: “Serving as the Director of Athletics at Nichols College over the past three years has been a very rewarding experience. We've celebrated conference championships, NCAA Tournament appearances, and most importantly, the growth and success of our student-athletes on and off the field. I'm incredibly proud of what we've accomplished, and I am grateful to the coaches, staff, and student-athletes who made these achievements possible.” Deputy AD/SWA Kristan Mallet will serve as Interim AD. #6: Gettysburg names Frostburg State (DII) AD/alumnus Troy Dell as its new AD. VP of Enrollment and Educational Services Carey Thompson: “Troy separated himself from an extremely strong candidate pool as we moved through this process. The work he has accomplished at Frostburg over the last nearly two decades, especially in the world of strategic planning, fundraising, and facility enhancement, made him the ideal candidate to continue to elevate Gettysburg Athletics and move the department and College forward. He will be a strong leader as we strive to provide a championship experience for all of our student-athletes while continuing to ensure our athletes thrive in the classroom and support them in the consequential education that Gettysburg provides.” (link)

#3: Beloit AD/Baseball HC Dave DeGeorge will step down as AD to focus on coaching, when asked by institutional leadership to focus solely on AD duties. DeGeorge: “I picked baseball and I am going to remain as head coach. I will remain the athletic director until a new one is hired and in place. Then I'll be an assistant to the new AD. […] [President Eric Boynton] really wants an athletic director who is 100 percent AD and not someone split between AD and coaching. We have more coaches and more (athletic) programs and we've never had as many athletes as we do now. He feels this is the right time to do this. I think the world of Eric Boynton. He is a great guy and has nothing but the best for Beloit College on his mind. Baseball is my passion and my love. When a choice was presented to me, that's what I wanted to do. I'm excited about the future.” (link)
