Husson AD Pergolizzi will retire after a decade leading the Eagles. President Clark: "Frank Pergolizzi has done an outstanding job in managing Husson's athletic department over the past decade. His attention to detail is evident in the great execution of the programs and their growth in both breadth of teams supported and the more than doubling of student participation. His selection of outstanding coaches and their recruiting skills have led to Husson's strength in the North Atlantic Conference and the University's other conference affiliations. McMurry names Director of Athletic Operations Dockery as Interim AD and promotes him to Senior Assoc. AD. The search for a permanent AD will begin after the fall sports season. (link)

Johns Hopkins takes home its first LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup. Tufts, Williams, MIT and Emory round out the top five. From a conference standpoint, the NESCAC and UAA each finished with three members in the top 10. (link) 

NCAA President Baker says a roadmap for a revamped NCAA will probably be done in July, Fox Sports’ Fischer reports from the 2023 NACDA Convention, adding that Baker also takes a “bit of a shot” at former President Emmert, remarking: “A lot of the time where I have these meetings, people say they've never spoken to the NCAA president before. I'm glad I could change that.” Baker also insists he is committed to advancing reform legislation through the NCAA committee structure alongside work with Congress. "As a former politician, I know there are a lot of people out here who believe it's always a mistake to ask politicians for help. … Success is a process, it doesn't happen overnight. The would-be regulators or the plaintiff attorneys don't know that's true or don't want to know it's true." Baker continues: “The main thing I've learned through all of these jobs, is no one is going to come and do it for you. … College sports has some serious issues that we need to address and deal with. Facility Features:

+ St. Lawrence begin construction on its $14M George W. Karpus Athletic Center next month, with the facility set to open in fall 2024. (link)

Michigan Senator McCann (D-Kalamazoo) has introduced legislation that would allow alcohol sales at college athletics venues. McCann yesterday remarked to the Senate Regulatory Affairs Committee that by doing so, “patrons, we hope, would be less inclined to load up prior to the game knowing that they will have the option to obtain an alcoholic beverage upon entering the facility and through the duration of the game.” The bill has passed out of committee and will be considered by the full Senate.
