#8: West Virginia Wesleyan elevates Senior Assoc. Interim AD Rae Emrick as its next AD. Emrick, a WVWC alum, has spent 25 years with the Bobcats. President James Moore: "We have a real opportunity here to redefine and reshape the student-athlete experience in the 21st century in NCAA Division II athletics. Dr. Emrick's experience at Wesleyan, coupled with her passion for students and her extensive and rich experiences make her an ideal choice for leadership." (link)

#7: Allen has secured a piece of property a few miles from campus upon which it intends to build a “full-scale athletic complex — football, track and field, soccer. The entire nine yards,” per President McNealy, who expects that “by next fall, we will have all of our sports a new home for competition.” AD Cox credits McNealy’s vision for the growth of the department: “He wants to win and he wants to do a lot of winning. And so what comes along with that is an enormous amount of passion that he has for the department of intercollegiate athletics. This transition going from NAIA to NCAA is not a mistake either. He knew by adopting such that it would improve a lot of areas on campus and a lot of pillars as well. [...] Athletics drives a lot and we can be a driving force collectively now that this athletic facility is about to come to fruition.” (link)

#5: The DII Membership Committee approved D’Youville to full DII membership with the division to have 294 members for 2023-24. The committee accepted Jessup (NAIA), Menlo (NAIA), Roosevelt (NAIA), Sul Ross State (DIII) and Vanguard (NAIA) to the three-year reclassification process. Lastly, the committee advanced Allen, Edward Waters, Emory & Henry, Thomas More, USC Beaufort and Westmont to the next year in their respective processes. (link)

#4: Coming out of its summer meetings, the D2 CCA published its positions on a number of key issues. The commissioners support exploring an expedited reclassification process, potential officiating alliance with DI and DIII and a federal rules body to allow for DII specific rule changes. On championships, the D2 CCA backs an AQ for all sports of no more than 50% AQ’s, expanding the FB postseason to 32 teams to mirror the DI FCS playoff, a 4.25-6.00 access ratio, setting the minimum number of programs for a DII championship at 35 and more. President/GSC Commissioner Wilson: "The D2CCA feels a responsibility to provide feedback and positions on key issues facing our conferences and institutions. We look forward to working with the existing NCAA Committees as decisions are being made as well as exploring opportunities to sponsor legislative change to positively impact Division II." (link)

#1: Albany State selects Vanderbilt (DI) Deputy AD for Internal Affairs/SWA Kelly as its next AD.
