#1: Maryville Forum Sports Editor Jon Dykstra opines on the future of the MIAA with regards to expansion. While he thinks a 10-team Football conference is “ideal,” that ship has sailed and he sees 16 Football schools and 20 total members as his new preferred option. 8-team North and South divisions for Football would lend itself to one non-conference week, two cross-division games, seven intra-division contests and one additional cross-division match-up based on standings. Citing Commissioner Racy wanting to position the league to catch DI defections, Dykstra suggests Kansas City (DI) and Omaha (DI) as options with big market size upside. Also puts forth a handful of schools each from the GAC, NSIC and GLVC as potential fits. (link)
