SBJ’s Michael Smith reports the NCAA has again engaged Endeavor for media rights consultation. Here’s what you need to know: “This round of media rights includes all of the NCAA championships except for men’s basketball and men’s and women’s golf. ESPN has been in possession of those multitude of rights dating back to 2011 when this current 12-year deal was signed. It runs through August 2024, and a new media rights contract would begin with the fall championships. Talks with the incumbent, ESPN, are expected to run through the end of the year. [...] The decision on whether to bundle or unbundle all of the championship rights, such as women’s basketball, will be determined by bids from the media companies. Rather than determine that in advance, the bids from the networks will determine it.” (link)

CCS Commissioner Beth Vansant joins D3.ticker/Collegiate Sports Connect’s Anthony Grassi at the 2023 NACDA Convention to discuss the first year of the new league, setting a vision, the message to member institutions during a changing landscape of college athletics and realignment. Taking over for Acting Commissioner Kurt Patberg, the league had a foundation in place and given the history for these members from the Great South to the USA South back into their own league, Vansant states: “Setting the vision is making sure that we’re stable. We want to be considered a premier athletic conference in the southeast. I think it starts with with what are our strengths, what are our weaknesses, what are the opportunities, what are the threats to make sure that this is a successful conference going forward, that it's sustainable that we are potentially adding members to make sure that this is something that's going to be around for 100 years.” Check out the full conversation on Connect. Westminster (MO) will add Men’s Volleyball as the Blue Jay’s 19th varsity sport in 2024-25, as the state of Missouri recently sanctioned the sport at the high school level. Women’s Volleyball HC Dalton Tucker will oversee both programs. (link)
