SBJ’s Michael Smith reports the NCAA has again engaged Endeavor for media rights consultation. Here’s what you need to know: “This round of media rights includes all of the NCAA championships except for men’s basketball and men’s and women’s golf. ESPN has been in possession of those multitude of rights dating back to 2011 when this current 12-year deal was signed. It runs through August 2024, and a new media rights contract would begin with the fall championships. Talks with the incumbent, ESPN, are expected to run through the end of the year. [...] The decision on whether to bundle or unbundle all of the championship rights, such as women’s basketball, will be determined by bids from the media companies. Rather than determine that in advance, the bids from the networks will determine it.” (link)

Arkansas-Monticello cut the ribbon on its $1.3M Kenneth H. Hunt Athletic Performance Center this weekend. The project includes a 4K square-foot weight room and 3K square-foot athletic training area. (link, link)

+ PennWest announces it is embarking on a search for a successor to President Dale-Elizabeth Pehrsson, who stepped down back in February. Interim President Lorraine Bernotsky is currently slated to serve through June 30, 2024, but has recently emerged as a candidate for West Chester’s presidency. (link)

+ Delta State faces an $11M budget deficit and President Daniel Ennis says the solution requires personnel and budget cuts, more deferral funding and doubling the ongoing capital campaign which will increase the university’s endowment. (link)

+ Nebraska-Kearney needs to cut 5-7% of its budget, per Vice Chancellor of Finance Jon Watts. The reductions will include $3M in instructional expenses and $2M in operational expenses. (link)

+ Shepherd is working to “rightsize” its operation, having found $3.8M in reductions for its $6M deficit over the next two years. (link)
