Big Chair Changes:

+ Mississippi U for Women AD Jennifer Claybrook is stepping down due to "personal reasons," per The Dispatch's Alex Murphy. MUW Asst. AD Buddy Foster will serve as Interim AD. (link, link)

+ St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) selects SUNY Poly AD Megan Valentine for the same role with the Bears. VP for Athletics and Campus Services Shantey Hill-Hanna: "We are excited to welcome Megan to the St. Joseph's family. Megan brings a wealth of experience and a forward-thinking vision to our athletics program. Her collaborative spirit and dedication to student-athletes will greatly contribute to the success and growth of our athletic department." (link)

+ NYU has parted ways with AD Stuart Robinson after allegations of sexual harassment, per the Washington Square News’ Ania Keenan who adds: “Multiple sources close to the Athletics Department told WSN that some staff had been the targets of inappropriate behavior from Robinson, and that others had raised concerns about gender discrimination under his leadership. […] The source also told WSN they had brought concerns of gender discrimination in the department to human resources nearly a year before Robinson’s suspension, and that their complaints went unaddressed. Multiple sources confirmed that complaints were raised inside the department, but said little action was taken before this summer, when Robinson was suspended.” (link)

The NCAA will advocate for updating existing state sports betting laws to “protect student-athletes from harassment or coercion, address the negative impacts of problem gambling and protect the integrity of NCAA competition.” Specifically, the NCAA is calling for mandatory reporting hotlines to report such behavior to law enforcement, increased penalties for bettors who harass student-athletes and mandatory education for operators to help identify harassment. Further, the NCAA believes any sports wagering advertisement also should include information about the harassment hotline, problem gambling and prohibitions on harassment related to sports wagering. Revenue generated from sports betting, the NCAA adds, should be allocated in part toward education to support the higher-risk college student population, including student-athletes. The association also contends states should have regulations identifying prohibited bettors and prohibit individuals younger than 21 from gambling on sports. More. (link)

Roanoke has received an estate gift of around $750K from late Field Hockey/Women's Basketball alum Peggy Patrick that will create the Roanoke College Women’s Athletic Endowment. The fund is initially expected to generate around $37,500 per year. VP of Advancement Kim Blair: “Peggy has set a remarkable example that will uplift and encourage other women athletes here at Roanoke College. Her gift will have great meaning for current and future Maroons. We are so thankful to her and the legacy she’s created.” (link)

Guilford will discipline multiple students after an investigation following last month’s Women’s Soccer match with Virginia State (DII). The initial allegations claimed fans yelled racial slurs and “monkey noises” to VSU student-athletes. A statement from the university on the investigation: “Based on those conversations [with more than 30 individuals] and a review of available audio and video, Guilford’s investigation found the heckling of the Virginia State team originated from a group of 14 individuals. The investigation concluded that the comments directed by fans toward VSU players was very unsportsmanlike. Three students were brought up on student conduct disciplinary action for heckling and one student was held out of an athletic contest for violation of the College’s athletic code of conduct. The investigation did not discover any evidence that racist remarks were directed by Guilford fans toward VSU players. However, the fact that VSU supporters found the environment to be extremely unwelcoming for their players is of deep concern to the College and resulted in action that has been taken.” (link)
