#4: Wingate Football HC/Interim AD Joe Reich will transition to the full-time AD chair after 23 seasons leading the Bulldogs on the gridiron. Reich: "I feel very good about taking over as AD. I think there's tremendous potential. Facility-wise, we want to get the Smart Center finished. That would be an unbelievable game-changer for us. And then, what facilities are next? What do we need to build? What do we need to fix? What do we need to replace? We're obviously very good to begin with, but we've got so much potential for what we can be." #3: Saint Leo removes the interim tag from AD Marcal Lazenby, who has been leading the Lions since July. #2: The CCAA is set to add UC Merced (NAIA) in 2024-25, per Extra Points' Matt Brown, who adds: "UC Merced doesn’t fit the typical profile of an NAIA institution. For one, it’s a very new school (only established in 2005!). They’re also currently one of only two public schools in the CalPac (California State University Maritime Academy is the other), and easily the one with the largest enrollment. This reclassification was a long-standing goal of the university, and on paper, you can see why it would make more sense than affiliating with much smaller, or for-profit, programs." (link)
