#9: Ferris State Football HC Tony Annese will be allowed to attend the Bulldogs’ first-round playoff matchup with Grand Valley State, should he choose to attend as a normal spectator, but cannot communicate with the team. NCAA Assistant Director for Championships and Alliances Phillip Pierce telling the GVSU student newspaper: “What I can say is that over the last eight years that I’ve been working with Division II football, this is new ground and the first time a coach has been suspended for a game. […] I asked around the office today and no one that I spoke with can recall an instance where a Division II coach was suspended from an NCAA tournament game due to misconduct. Definitely not saying that it hasn’t happened previously, but the people I spoke with can’t recall.” During his media availability earlier this week, Annese said of his plans on Saturday: “I guess I’ll just check with my two granddaughters to see what they’re doing, and maybe I’ll just hang with them and watch the game from the TV. I, technically speaking, can be at the game. I just gotta buy my own ticket and stuff like that, so I don’t know if that’s a good idea, so I still haven’t sorted it out.” (link)

#5: Northeastern State will pause its MIAA Football membership in order to compete as an independent. With the 2024 MIAA football schedule already released, NSU will play the 2024 football season as a non-conference opponent for all MIAA schools, but MIAA institutions will have the option to find other non-conference opponents the week they are scheduled to play the RiverHawks next fall. Following the 2025 season, NSU and the MIAA CEO Council will reassess the state of NSU's football program to determine its status for the 2027 and 2028 football seasons. (link)
