The Football Rules Committee is proposing all NCAA members be permitted to use tablets on the sideline for in-game video, conferences to use a collaborative replay review system and submit proposals to use wearable technology during games. Also of note, the committee is proposing stronger enforcement against uniform violations that would see a player have to sit out at least one play for a first violation and all subsequent uniform violations by a team result in a charged timeout or five-yard penalty once no timeouts remain. All proposals are pending Playing Rules Oversight Panel approval next month. (link)

#2: Landmark Commissioner Katie Boldvich takes aim at the Women’s Ice Hockey selection show, writing: “First of all no one is ‘sitting on pins and needles’. Division 3 ice hockey uses the pairwise selection model and the at large teams knew they were in… acting like this is a big reveal makes you look uneducated. Please educate the talent. Also, the conferences or schools would be happy to provide pronunciation guides. […] And finally any negative spins of teams in the tournament needs to stop. Talking about a team not having momentum going into the tournament is a bad look. Do better.” (link)

#1: Transylvania President Brien Lewis voiced his displeasure with the Pioneers not hosting, writing in an email to NCAA President Charlie Baker: “To say that this seems a very poor way of rewarding consistent outstanding performance by these student athletes and their dedicated supporters is a gross understatement. While I understand and applaud the general policy of limiting flights and travel, this does not appear appropriate or reasonable in these circumstances and given the bracketing and results of the tournament to date.” (link) HCAC Commissioner Jay Jones also spoke out regarding Transylvania Women’s Basketball not hosting this weekend, stating: “It’s a rule that’s getting a lot of negative attention and because of that hopefully we can get it changed moving forward. […] There’s nothing nefarious that happened. There’s nothing that the NCAA wasn’t following. What I will say is it’s a policy that we don’t like.” (link) D3sports’ Patrick Coleman took to X/Twitter: “There's been some very public complaints today about how hosts for D-III basketball sectionals were chosen. If you're a coach, or a university president, *you have the power to change this.* A school has a vote at the NCAA convention. Work to change how D-III budgets.” (link)
