The Sioux City Journal’s Nick Hytrek writes on the local impact of businesses on the NAIA Women’s Basketball Tournament and the event itself. Hytrek asks Tournament Co-Director Mike Skaggs if he could envision the event elsewhere: “I cannot, and Corey and I have this discussion all the time. If it were to go to another city like Omaha or Indianapolis, a larger city, it would get lost in what all it has to offer. We find it real hard for it to go anywhere else, but we don't want to rest on our laurels. Every year, we're looking for ways to make it better.” Skaggs tells Hytrek the commitment of local businesses to sponsor each of the 16 teams each year and low turnover are “a sign of the willingness for businesses to annually chip in to help support the tournament and cover its costs.” (link, link)

Clarke will eliminate its Women’s Lacrosse program at the end of the season “after thoroughly reviewing and analyzing our initiatives in the college athletics landscape,” per AD Curt Long. (link)
