Ferrum has accepted a bid to move to DII and join Conference Carolinas, with an application to be filed next February. Northland has declared financial exigency after raising close to $1.5M of its $12M fundraising goal. Board of Trustees Chair Ted Bristol: “The Board has been inspired by the extraordinary effort and generosity over the past few weeks. As we’ve said from the start, our shared goal is to continue Northland’s mission and we are committed to ensuring we’ve explored all options to do so. The Board remains open and hopeful. However, I also want to caution that Northland’s circumstances remain incredibly serious, and significant progress will be needed in the next two weeks to avoid closure.” (link)

Buena Vista removes the interim tag from AD Amy Maier who has been leading the Beavers since August. Maier, who previously served as Assoc. AD/SWA, will report to new VP for Athletics, Enrollment and Marketing Brandon Johnson. President Brian Lenzmeier: “For over ten years Amy has been a dedicated champion for BVU athletics, our coaches and staff members while supporting facility upgrades. I greatly appreciate how Amy places the student experience at the center of everything she does, and I have been inspired by how well she understands the powerful role NCAA Division III athletics can play in achieving BVU’s mission of preparing students for lifelong success through transformational educational programs.” (link)

Yahoo’s Ross Dellenger reports the NCAA’s NIL working group has introduced a proposal for the DI Council to consider that would allow schools to provide NIL “assistance and services,” including identifying opportunities and facilitating deals with third parties.  Also, “according to the working group’s proposed legislation, as an incentive for athletes to disclose their deals, schools may only provide assistance to those athletes who have disclosed their contracts. … The NCAA awarded the management of the agent registry, disclosure database and educational plan to Teamworks, sources told Yahoo Sports. Teamworks is a technology platform and app already widely used within many college athletic departments. The deal between the NCAA and Teamworks has not been finalized.” (link)

The winter LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup standings are led by NYU, following their Women’s Basketball national title, Johns Hopkins, Williams, Emory and WashU. The UAA leads all conferences with five of its eight members in the top 20. (link) 

Following DIII Membership Committee approval in February, the SAA announces the single-sport Collegiate Field Hockey Conference, which will begin operations this fall. Centre Leadership Annual Giving Officer/former Field Hockey HC Jenelle Anthony Downs will serve as the first commissioner of the CFHC, which will include Centre, Concordia (WI), Marian, Mary Washington, Rhodes and Sewanee. The league is set to earn AQ status for the 2026 season. Downs: “Our journey thus far has been marked by both triumphs and challenges, navigating growth spurts and setbacks within the SAA. However, today signifies a monumental shift as we embark on a path toward unparalleled cohesion and opportunity. With the establishment of the Collegiate Field Hockey Conference, we not only affirm our dedication to advancing the sport but also secure a coveted gateway to the NCAA tournament." (link)

Wisconsin-Eau Claire hires Green Bay (DI) Men’s Basketball AC Zach Malvik as HC. Heidelberg removes the interim tag in elevating Erin Eaton to Women’s Basketball HC. AD Greg Cooper: "Erin's extensive Division III head and assistant coaching resumé and her deep Midwest ties are what separated her from all other candidates. Virginia Wesleyan names Dickinson Women’s Basketball AC Megan Green as its next HC. Marlins AD Andrea Hoover-Erbig: "With an impressive track record and a passion for the game, Megan brings invaluable experience and a commitment to excellence to the Marlins' athletic program.
