LeTourneau will depart the ASC for the SCAC, effective 2025-26. President Steven Mason: “The SCAC is an ideal fit for LETU as one of the premier NCAA Division III conferences in the country. NYU names Johns Hopkins Deputy AD Jake Olkkola as its next AD, starting June 10. Senior VP for University Life Jason Pina: "Throughout this process, it became evident that Jake brings a demonstrated ability to manage a complex enterprise; an understanding of the integral relationship between athletic and academic excellence within a Division III program. He has a keen awareness of the opportunities and challenges presented by NYU's unique location in an urban environment and its impact upon our students' experience of sport and, above all, an approach to leadership grounded in integrity and compassion." Carleton AD Gerald Young will retire July 1 after 14 years leading the Knights and be succeeded by Assoc. AD/SWA Heidi Jaynes,who will also oversee the Physical Education, Athletics, and Recreation Department. President Alison Byerly: “Gerald Young has contributed so much to Carleton athletics and to the Carleton community during his 32-year career as a Knight. As Athletic Director, he was a strong advocate for the benefits that athletic participation, teamwork, and leadership can have on the educational experience. As a college citizen, his experience made him a valued voice in many important discussions. I am personally grateful for his leadership, dedication, and support.” Softball HC Amy Erickson will add SWA responsibilities to her role. (link)

This week the DIII Presidents Council approved a new council composition plan that will ensure one representative from each multisport conference sits on either the Presidents or Management Council. The council also received recommendation from the Athletic Training Working Group around culture and communication, workload, and work-life balance and an update from Lewis Rice and Deloitte regarding the reviews of DIII finances. Assuredly more to come in the final meeting report in the coming days. (link) 

Key updates from the NCAA Board of Governors: “$1.7 million in Association-wide funding — $200,000 in fiscal year 2025 and $1.5 million in fiscal year 2026 — for establishing a National Collegiate women's wrestling championship, with the first championship occurring in the 2025-26 academic year.” Additionally, a $5K penalty for any school that doesn’t submit its annual sexual violence attestation form, plus a public listing on the NCAA website. Also of note: “The Board of Governors discussed transgender student-athlete participation. The current policy remains under review. College sports are the premier stage for women's sports in America and the NCAA will continue to promote Title IX, make unprecedented investments in women's sports and ensure fair competition for all student-athletes in all NCAA championships.” (link)

The NCAA selects Teamworks to provide NIL services to student-athletes and member institutions. Per the agreement, Teamworks will “develop a process to collect disclosures of NIL activities and create and provide educational materials to all NIL stakeholders. It also will build and maintain a registration process for agents and other professional service providers offering NIL services and make that registry available to student-athletes.” As stated previously, the registry will be voluntary and serve as a central repository for those interested in providing services to enrolled and prospective student-athletes. It will also include both a ratings and a dispute resolution system, as well as background information about the third parties. Also from the NCAA: “The educational materials must reach a large number of stakeholders and facilitate national consistency in both electronic and in-person formats. Included topics will be NCAA legislation, tax implications, intellectual property, selecting professional service providers, responsible social media engagement and business startup strategies.” (link)

Albertus Magnus unveiled its new fundraising arm, the Falcon Club. AD Michael Kobylanski: “Albertus Magnus College has an outstanding tradition of developing successful student-athletes who move on to make positive lifelong contributions in the communities in which they work and reside. The creation of the Falcon Club is a logical step as we strive to consistently enhance our student-athlete experience. Facility Features:

+ Wisconsin-Oshkosh held its official groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new track at Titan Stadium. Scheduled to be completed in late summer, the project includes a nine-lane track with two jump pits, two high jump aprons and a dual-direction pole vault lane with two throwing rings. The Titan track & field teams have been without a home outdoor facility since 2014. (link)

+ Concordia (MN) partners with the Fargo-Moorhead Convention and Visitors Bureau and Oak Grove Lutheran School for an ongoing $2.8M outdoor facilities renovation project that includes work to resurface the track and football playing surfaces while also installing lights inside Jake Christiansen Stadium. + Keystone is in talks with a potential investment partner as the college is, as the Middle States Commission on Higher Education states, “in danger of ‘imminent closure.’” President John Pullo Sr. writing in a letter to campus: “While I remain hopeful, however, I must also be clear that our inability to successfully conclude an agreement could result in ceasing operations at the college.” (link)

+ Faculty at Albright have issued a vote of no confidence in President Jacquelyn Fetrow and Provost Karen Campbell, citing “a lack of transparency regarding the school's future and a lack of raises for faculty.” (link)

The NFL is giving players the option to wear Guardian Caps on their helmets during games this season, according to Chief Administrative Officer Dawn Aponte, who, per Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, “nonchalantly mentioned a new ‘option’”during a recent webinar. Chief Medical Officer Alan Sills responded: “So we might actually see a Guardian Cap on a player in a game this year. That’s possible. Great. Big change coming up.” Florio: “The league possibly is betting on the vast majority of players choosing not to opt for a path that will make them stand out. Regardless, the league has (wisely) realized that it’s impossible to reconcile a desire to maximize player health and safety with a refusal to let players choose to wear an extra piece of safety equipment — especially since it apparently works.” (link)
