ASC Commissioner Carlton will step down at the end of the academic year after over 21 years with the league. Hardin-Simmons President/ASC Council of Presidents Chair Bruntmyer: "The Conference is thankful for the work Amy has done with the membership, first in her supporting role to Fred Jacoby and then as commissioner for the last 17 years. During her tenure, the Conference witnessed national championships and deep tournament runs, and gained the attention of institutions and conferences across the country through student, administrator and coach leadership roles within Division III and professional organizations." The conference hopes to have its decision on a next commissioner by the end of May. (link)

NCAA President Baker has found no shortage of people willing to give him advice since being announced for the position, telling the Indianapolis Star’s Hunsinger Benbow: “I had two months of just…this thing buzzing all the time with people who got my number from who knows where, calling me to fill me in on all the things I needed to fix in my first month. That part of it felt pretty familiar. … One of the things you have to do is figure out how to absorb a lot of information that comes from a lot of points of views. And then try to make the best decision you can on behalf of the people you serve and represent." Baker, who notes the job was not in his radar until he spoke with Boston Red Sox CEO Kennedy, also talks about establishing a national NIL standard: “I was in Washington last week. I'll be in Washington next week. Republicans, Democrats, house members, senate members, everybody I've talked to said that they are aware that this lack of transparency, this lack of accountability, the fact there is no standardization, there is no uniformity, there is no really quote-unquote market that anybody can see is a problem. Federal regulators have approved plans to backstop depositors and financial institutions associated with Silicon Valley Bank, per CNBC’s Fox, who reports the Federal Reserve “stepped in with a separate facility that will provide loans up to one year for institutions affected by the bank failures.” The Fed says this “action will bolster the capacity of the banking system to safeguard deposits and ensure the ongoing provision of money and credit to the economy. The Federal Reserve is prepared to address any liquidity pressures that may arise.” The Treasury Department is providing up to $25 billion from its Exchange Stabilization Fund as a backstop for any potential losses from the funding program.
