And it also included $194,040, or 8% of his base salary, for UT finishing in the top 10 of the Learfield Directors’ Cup standings.” Full breakdown of White’s bonuses this year. (link)

#9: D1Baseball’s Kendall Rogers is told by multiple sources that Texas and new Baseball HC Jim Schlossnagle had agreed to a deal “between Texas A&M’s series with Georgia and before the Regional round.” Longhorns AD Chris Del Conte describes hiding in a cemetery outside College Station waiting for Schlossnagle to come home so Del Conte could make his pitch. “With Jim, our eggs were in one basket. I was banking on my relationship with him that we could come to a deal. I was really nervous, to tell you the truth. … When I was in the cemetery, [then on the way] to their house, it’s just as crazy as it sounds. I played every scenario in my mind. I drove to his house, had a long, long discussion, put him in the car, and we drove off.” (link, link)

#8: The Arizona Daily Star’s Greg Hansen writes on Arizona AD Desireé Reed-Francois’ move to bring its multimedia rights in-house: “This is the old ‘burn the place down and build it up again’ managerial strategy, which, to her credit, Reed-Francois believes can someday more than double the UA’s annual income from Learfield (about $7 million). My question is this: Does she know something that Alabama AD Greg Byrne, Texas AD Chris del Conte and Ohio State AD Gene Smith don’t know? All employ Learfield, among 161 schools to do so, including future Big 12 rivals Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, TCU and Texas Tech. Reed-Francois is eliminating the middleman. She is swinging for the fences and betting on herself. It could be an uphill battle. [...] Reed-Francois is not Dave Heeke, who was about to sign a 10-year contract extension with Learfield before being fired in January. As we are seeing, Reed-Francois is doing her own paradigm shift. [...] Reed-Francois is just stepping up to the plate at Arizona, which needs some serious stepping up.” (link)

#5: Texas A&M Baseball HC Jim Schlossnagle didn’t mince words when asked by a reporter about a “specific job opening” following the Aggies’ loss in the MCWS: “I think it’s pretty selfish of you to ask that question, to be honest with you. I left my family to be the coach at Texas A&M. I took the job to never take another job again, and that hasn't changed in my mind. … I gave up a big part of my life to come take this job, and I’ve poured every ounce of my soul in this job, and I’ve given this job every single ounce I could possibly give it. Write that.” (link)

#3: The Chicago Sun-Times’ Scoop Jackson questions the motives of developments at Northwestern: “And while this can be looked at as a new start in the way Northwestern presented it or as a Gragg ‘demotion’ as my colleague Steve Greenberg wrote it, what it really looks like is a power move that’s routed in the politics of the building of an over three quarters of a billion dollars stadium. That’s all coming from private money. That’s what the timing of all of this says. That’s what neither the media or the university really want to talk about. That’s probably what’s really going on. See, they not like us. And he not like them. But the real question is who inside Northwestern is allowing the media to tell lies about them about the lies the media feels they are telling us?” (link)
