#10: USC Aiken AD Todd Wilkinson says the Lady Pacers’ Softball facility is on target to be complete in September, adding: “The facility that we’re building is made for softball. It’s gonna be a synthetic turf field– Satcher field is actually repurposed from a baseball field into a softball field. So, the dugouts are originally set up for baseball, and they weren’t quite at the angle they needed to be and the dimensions may have been a little awkward. But this field is being built right from the start as a softball facility, and a first-class softball facility for sure.” (link)

#9: Slippery Rock AD Roberta Page sits down with D2.ticker/Collegiate Sports Connect’s Bryan Fischer from the 2024 NACDA Convention to dive into key issues facing the division as a member of the DII Management Council, staff retention, what’s next for The Rock and more. On what is next for the Management Council: “I think we're moving the division forward. I love the leadership we have at the NCAA so I'm excited to see about this regionalization discussion, the think tank that's going to happen with getting some great leaders across the country, getting some student-athletes involved in there just to talk about what's happening in our division, what do we need to be talking about so that we can continue to thrive. I think some membership issues may be coming our way especially for schools that maybe are at the lower Division I level that maybe can't sustain what they're doing and maybe they'll look to see if Division II is a better fit for them.” Asked about the key to retaining coaches and staff: “I always want our staff to feel like they're valued, that their voice is heard, that I recognize that, that I celebrate that and that I care about them. I do whatever I can to push whether it's for recognition, better facilities, whether we're able to buy them something just to enhance their program, I always want our coaches and our staff to feel like I have their back all the time.” Check out the full conversation on Connect. #8: New West Texas A&M AD Doug Lipinski was introduced and sat down with Press Pass Sports’ Kale Steed about his decision to take this job, his vision for the Buffs and more. On what drew him to the opportunity: “People always talk about the fit, and WTAMU was truly a fit. The programs here are all successful and the academics are top notch, and the school has great facilities. It was a great interview process and having an impact on the institution as well as athletics was a big selling point to me.” How will he evaluate coaches? “I think we have the best coaches in the country in all sports. We’ll be evaluating everything and the way we go about evaluating from A-Z is the student-athlete experience. We want the best for our student-athletes. It’s about teaching and if we are good teachers. It’s not always about wins or losses. At the end of the day, it’s about the student-athletes.” More.
