#8: Saint Vincent removes the interim tag from AD/Men’s Basketball HC D.P. Harris, who has been leading the Bearcats since June 2023. EVP/COO Jeff Mallory: “As interim director of athletics, DP Harris steered our athletics department forward, especially with short-term initiatives such as establishing branding guidelines and enhancing the visibility of the department's efforts internally and externally. DP's ability to connect with our community is vital. #6: The DIII Management Council has selected Wisconsin-Eau Claire AD Jason Verdugo and Luther FAR Rob Larson to serve as chair and vice chair through January 2026. The council also approved budget increases in FY25 and FY26 of $3.5M for live streaming stipends, a national platform for preliminary NCAA championship round live streams, bracketing flexibility and more; $3.5M towards bracket expansion, per diem increase and a joint Men’s Basketball championship; and $438,500 for various enrichment fund initiatives. The council approved emergency legislation to change the year-in-residence rule, pending Presidents Council approval and will sponsor a quartet of 2025 NCAA Convention proposals: creating a collegiate championship for Women’s Wrestling, altering the legislative process, creating a waiver to reduce the reclassification process from three to two years and creating an eligibility exception for student-athletes who graduate from a DIII institution and continue their education at a non-athletics member that has a formal partnership with the DIII school. Also of note, the Management Council is discussing potential changes to sports gambling rules, including allowing betting on professional sports. (link)

#4: Wittenberg rolls out plans to eliminate the $17M deficit from FY23 which include $3M in staff cuts in FY25 and beyond and $4M in faculty cuts in FY26 and beyond, with consideration for changing its academic offerings. These changes will be considered by the board next month along with a full plan to eliminate forecasted losses by FY27. (link)

#2: Salem has selected John Jay Assoc. AD for Facilities & Operations Michael Williams as its new AD, starting August 1.
