#10: Carnegie Mellon Football will exit the PAC after this season and join the Centennial. Tartans AD Josh Centor: “Joining the Centennial Conference will have an impact on the competitiveness of our football program while providing student-athletes with enriching travel experiences and opportunities to compete against some of the nation’s top teams.” From the PAC: “As a result of this decision, the PAC will be unable to move forward with its planned divisional format and PAC Championship Game, which was set to begin in 2025. The conference is now putting together an eight-game, unbalanced schedule for the 2025 and 2026 seasons, which will be released as soon as it is finalized.” (link, link)

#8: Earlham has opened its new Bud McCollum-Earlham College Baseball Hitting and Pitching Lab. Baseball HC/Senior Assoc. AD Steve Sakosits: “Many NCAA Division I schools can’t say they have an indoor training facility of this caliber. Not only will it provide a year-round facility to support the development of our players, but it will help us recruit a better student-athlete at the Division III level.” (link)

#7: WashU will be removed from its associate Football membership with the CCIW after the 2025 season, per D3sports’ Patrick Coleman and Dave McHugh. CCIW Executive Director Maureen Harty telling Coleman and McHugh: “The CCIW Council of Presidents have been closely watching the conference membership shifts throughout D-III. It is in the best interest of our core members to be in a position to act quickly if the opportunity presents itself to add a core member that sponsors football. We made the decision to give Wash U notice now, so they can begin to pursue other options. WashU and Coach (Aaron) Keen have been a great partner and we look forward to their next two seasons in the CCIW.” The move leaves the CCIW with 10 football members. (link)

#5: Wittenberg will cut its Men’s and Women’s Tennis and Women’s Bowling programs after this year, in addition to a number of other university cuts, as it works to eliminate its forecasted operating losses by FY27. WU will also eliminate 24 full-time faculty roles, 45 staff positions, five academic major programs and more. In a letter from university leaders: “We recognize that this is a difficult and uncertain time for all of us as we work to fully eliminate forecasted financial losses by fiscal year 2027 by reducing faculty and staff positions. However, since the start of the budgetary hardship process, the board has had a singular focus: to preserve the best of Wittenberg and ensure the university thrives.” (link)

Kalamazoo President/MIAA President’s Council Chair Jorge Gonzalez: “Jason is a strategic thinker who brings extensive experience in college athletic administration, with a strong emphasis on enhancing the student-athlete experience. #3: The OAC selects Washington & Lee Deputy AD for Facilities and Operations Bethany Dannelly as its next commissioner, starting September 30. Mount Union President/OAC Presidents Council Chair Greg King: ”Bethany offers a unique perspective as a former Division III athlete, coach and administrator who has spent the majority of her career supporting college student-athletes. Her deep expertise, passion and commitment to both athletic and academic excellence will be invaluable to our conference.
