#2: MCLA cancels its Women’s Basketball season, as first reported by Hoopsville’s Dave McHugh, just weeks after hiring new HC Will Brown. AD Laura Mooney telling The Berkshire Eagle’s Howard Herman: “Really, it's been in question for the last couple of seasons. If you go back in time and look at our roster, playing a game with five or six kids is really not the best practice. This isn't something that is a knee-jerk decision. Only one new athlete was brought in for this year, so that has complicated things. It's all based on numbers. Clearly no one wants to make this decision. It's a terrible decision to make. It's a lose-lose. We hate when the student-athletes are unhappy and this is obviously something that is very difficult for them to hear.” (link, link)
