Reinhardt AD Jeffrey Pourchier has resigned after three-plus years leading the Eagles to become the Athletic Director for Development at New College of Florida. Pourchier: "After 18 incredible years, it's time to turn the page to a new chapter. This decision has been difficult, but I believe it is a great opportunity for my family and me. It is very difficult to say goodbye to so many great individuals that we have developed relationships with over the past eighteen years. This place has been my second home, filled with unforgettable memories, amazing colleagues, and the privilege of working with so many talented student-athletes who inspired me daily. […] Reinhardt has shaped me as a leader and as a person, and I'll carry these lessons with me forever. While I'm excited for what lies ahead, I am thankful for the privilege of leading this exceptional athletic department. I will always be a proud supporter of Reinhardt Athletics.” (link)

The Cal Pac updates on a trio of membership moves starting with Stanton (USCAA) who has applied for NAIA membership starting next year. Further: “It is hoped as many as four additional schools – all already in the [NAIA Pathway] program – can add to the Cal Pac's footprint in the next two years.” Commissioner Don Ott: “The willingness of some of our neighbors to help us is what college sports in the NAIA is supposed to look like. […] Stanton has competed on an even footing with many of the programs in their region. We're thrilled to have them desire to join both the NAIA and the Cal Pac, and we're working closely with them to assure they excel in the NAIA membership process.” The conference will also add Northern New Mexico from the CAC in select sports, namely Basketball and Cross Country and Walla Walla as Men’s Volleyball associate members. SSAC Commissioner Mike Hall sits down with NAIA.ticker’s Kristen Eargle to discuss a number of topics including the alliance of NAIA conferences, conference partnerships and more. Hall states the alliance the 21 NAIA commissioners organized for brand sponsorships has been going “very, very well,” and believes there are more opportunities for them to work together on scheduling, championships, and potentially the NAIA’s new media rights approach. On the NAIA Network and NAIA’s media rights partnership with Urban Edge Network: “It's a great, great move. […] We obviously as commissioners hope that we'll be able to be included in that in the future for hosting our championships.” Hall says the conference is set to re-up its partnership with the Sun Conference to provide additional championship opportunities and mitigate expenses, adding he has had similar conversations with the AAC. On the topic of post-house roster limits, Wisconsin.Golf’s Rob Hernandez chats with HCs across the industry about the impact it will have on their programs. Wisconsin-Parkside (NCAA DII) Director of Golf Carly Werwie-Swartz: ”I feel like we will see an impact as it will have a trickle-down effect at all levels with everyone wanting to find a place to play. I think the impact will be more noticeable in spring as the Portal becomes more filled and roster spots are finalized.” Wisconsin-Whitewater (NCAA DIII) Women’s Golf HC Andrea Wieland: “What I have noted is that some coaches have been vocal about using the transfer portal more than originally planned. In general, it seems that (for all sports), coaches are preferring recruits that are READY to compete. … So, college coaches can turn to the portal to find a junior or senior to round out their lineup. In golf, there is definitely some of this happening, or will happen, so, for mid-major colleges, the top freshmen might go there to compete for a year or two before trying to transfer to a Power 5 school. The new roster limits might not allow those Power 5 schools to ‘take a chance’ on a freshman so they have to be a little more strategic on who they give offers to. In all cases, I think coaches just need to be honest about what they have for a plan for the students and their scholarships. And the students need to be honest. There isn’t much breathing room when you have a roster limit.” (link)
