#10: Hartford AD Alicia Queally sits down with STN Sports’ Ryan Hughes to discuss her first year, goals, growth and more. A year into the role, Queally says there is a different energy around the department. On the challenges taking over the Hawks last year: “It's more of getting that buy-in and and seeking that trust and earning that trust from not just the coaches and staff, but the student-athletes because there's been a lot of instability. I’ve been very intentional in how I'm leading, having really pointed dialogue with individuals, listening, doing a lot of listening. People have been hurt and people have a little bit of trauma attached to that and really hearing them out and figuring out how do we move forward from that, based on the fact that the reality is is they chose Hartford for a particular reason and it was taken away from them so how do we heal that and how do we move forward.” Queally’s goals include winning more championships, a 3.4 department GPA, creating a genuine relationship with those across campus, growing the “long-term” affinity people have with athletics, creating a genuine authentic energy on campus, raising funds for lights and more.
