#8: D3sports’ Coleman camps with D3.ticker/Connect’s Grassi to dive into the litany of changes occurring in the Lone Star state in the ASC, SCAC and SAA. With the ASC looking for a new commissioner and set to be down to four FB-playing members when the dust settles, Coleman states the league needs “someone who can recruit, for lack of a better term, schools from other associations, other divisions to come into your conference … or completely remake your conference.” The pair dig into other possibilities, such as new upstart programs or a possible merger or alliance. On the SAA’s addition of Southwestern and Trinity (TX), Coleman notes the move did surprise him a little given the increase to travel for members, but “having that stability, having to not seek out extra non-conference football games to schedule or making your scheduling easier in a bunch of other sports, there's a lot of benefits to that. And it keeps the conference from having to worry about whether
