#9: Notre Dame Men’s Basketball HC Micah Shrewsberry following the Fighting Irish loss to Louisville last Sunday, unloaded on a reporter: “I understand that a lot of people have quit on us, and well-deserved. If you hate me, absolutely. Absolutely, man. Great. If you think I suck, if you think I can’t coach, I’m with you, man. Good. Good for you because you’re allowed to have opinions. If you think I should be fired, good for you. You’re allowed to have opinions, right? A lot of people have given up on this team. They’ve given up on me. I don’t really give a damn. I believe in myself, and I believe in these guys, okay? So don’t give up on these guys. … If you don’t want to show up because of me, don’t show up because of me. Because you think I suck. Cool. I’m okay with that. I know people believe in me. I know people at Notre Dame believe in me. But don’t give up on these kids, man. What have they done for people to give up on them? I know if you’re not with us because we’re losing, you don’t want to come watch this, fine. But do it because of me then. But not these kids, man. They don’t deserve that. … I don’t care about anybody’s opinion. I know who I am. I know I can coach basketball. I know I’m turning this program around. So you gave up on me already? I don’t want to see you back here. I don’t give a damn. Don’t give up on these kids because we gonna get this thing rolling. I sat there and watched more Louisville fans in here than Notre Dame people. That’s embarrassing. That’s embarrassing for me because I’m the head coach here. Yes, I got us in this predicament. But don’t come back when we’re…winning because we’re turning this around, man. You better believe that. Everybody that gave up on me, believe it. Write this date down and believe it, because we’re going to get this thing rolling. I don’t care if you gave up on me or not.” (link)

#7: Blueprint Sports will acquire Student Athlete NIL (SANIL) according to SBJ’s Ben Portnoy, who reports the two companies will operate under the Blueprint name. Blueprint Sports CEO Rob Sine: “For me, it was [about] get smart people together in a room, take the best of both worlds, have 70 partners across the country -- which is a pretty formidable number -- and then expand on that.” The merger will now operate 70 collectives that delivered over $108M in payments in 2024. Portnoy adding: “The company is positioning itself to have a more significant impact beyond collectives in providing technology and data solutions centered on revenue, salary caps and more in anticipation of the potential approval of the proposed House settlement. […] That said, how those payments will be divvied and the further professionalization of college sports has seen companies like Blueprint and SANIL create varying solutions for schools as they prepare to work under a de facto salary cap. Blueprint, for example, is in the process of expanding its basketball-centric solution that integrates data collected through myriad deals that have been cut in recent years to inform coaches and programs on player value, allowing more informed financial decision-making.” (link)

Rawak talks with Sports Illustrated’s Pat Forde about her appointment: “I never in a million years imagined this would be an opportunity that I would have. The experiences that I have had leading organizations and building organizations, and then certainly the passion I have and the love I have for this incredible sport—full-circle moment is absolutely a phrase I’ve used to describe it.” Rawak goes on to note that being “unprecedentedly successful [in 2028] is going to be really important for us, and something that I’m confident in. I know we have brilliant coaches across this country. I know we have athletes that are committed to being exceptional, and my responsibility is, number one, hire a national team managing director to help really lead that initiative and partnership with me. … We're all recognizing the incredible importance of the Olympics on home soil and what that does for us. But for me, it's about what are we doing to lead up to that? But there's no doubt that our success in L.A. is critically important.” Senior Deputy AD for Revenue Generation and Sport Administration Jordan Skolnick will serve as Interim AD for the Blue Hens. #1: Illinois celebrated the jersey raising of former Men’s Basketball student-athlete Terrence Shannon Jr. in the State Farm Center last Saturday, but when the jersey was unveiled, it was upside down. Illini AD Josh Whitman apologized for the incident: “We had a regrettable situation at halftime with the jersey around Terrence's celebration. Obviously, a really regrettable moment. It's a shame that it happened that way. Of course, I didn't hang the jersey, but I'm ultimately responsible for everything that happens in this building, and ultimately, that means that was on me tonight. We need to make sure that we understand that in life mistakes happen, but there are also certain moments where mistakes can't happen. And tonight, we stole that moment for Terrence, and that's on us and something we have apologized to him for. We have apologized to his mom. I want to make sure that we apologize to our fans and everybody who was excited to be part of this experience, tonight." (link)
