#10: U.S. Representative Michael Baumgartner (R-WA) has filed a bill that would create a new association to replace the NCAA, known as the American Collegiate Sports Association (ASCA) and require all NIL money from schools & collectives to be distributed equally to athletes at ASCA schools. Kennyhertz Perry attorney Mit Winter breaks it down, noting the legislation would also “provide college athletes the right to transfer freely, require conferences to be composed of schools in the same time zone, require all athletics revenue to be equally distributed among schools and athletes, and limit coach salaries to 10x of school cost of attendance.” Here’s the full thread, which includes a number of eye openers. #6: Millikin names Office of Admission Director of Community Engagement & Recruitment/Hall of Famer Lori Kerans as its new VP for Athletics and Community Engagement. Acting President Mary Black: “In this position, Lori will provide the strategic vision and leadership necessary to continue advancing Millikin University's mission and the Department of Athletics. Alongside President-Elect Dean Pribbenow, I have no doubt that she will bring the same exemplary service and passion to this new opportunity that she has brought to Millikin throughout her entire career — one that has spanned nearly four decades and touched nearly every area of campus.” (link)

#5: Johns Hopkins continues to sit atop the latest Learfield Directors’ Cup standings, followed by NYU, Emory, MIT and WashU. On a conference level, the UAA has three of the top five schools, while the NESCAC holds places seven through ten with Middlebury, Williams, Amherst and Tufts. (link)

#3: SUNY Maritime selects Football HC Jamel Ramsay as its next AD just over a year after stepping into the HC post. Ramsay: “My vision as Athletic Director is rooted in the belief that athletics are a powerful extension of education. I am committed to building a culture that values character, accountability and holistic development. My time as Head Football Coach was instrumental in shaping that approach.” One of Ramsay’s first responsibilities will be to hire a new HC as he will step away from leading the Privateers on the gridiron. #2: Saint John’s AD Bob Alpers will retire at the end of this academic year. Alpers: “After 43 years, I've finally graduated. Since I arrived in Collegeville as a student in the fall of 1978, SJU has been my home. It has been my honor to work with our unbelievable student-athletes, both as a coach and as an administrator. I would like to thank the monks, colleagues, alumni and coaches who have supported me and our work at SJU.” (link)
