#10: Interesting nuggets from Kentucky’s official release on the athletic department’s transition to Champions Blue LLC. Cats President Eli Capilouto: “We believe this is an innovative approach — a new structure and governance model that thoughtfully contemplates how we strengthen Athletics, protect and promote the University and open up new opportunities for growth.” Leadership structure: “The Champions Blue Board, a public entity, will meet regularly to advise President Capilouto and UK Director of Athletics Mitch Barnhart on strategic directions and opportunities for revenue growth. Opportunities could include developments such as expanded premium seating and fan amenities in Kroger Field or public-private partnerships to develop revenue-generating ventures.” (link)

#6: The NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship bracket is set with UCLA, TCU, Stanford and LMU as the top four seeds. (link)

#5: The statue of South Carolina Women’s Basketball HC Dawn Staley has been revealed. Staley is shown standing on a ladder, holding the freshly cut net, much like she’s done for an NCAA title three times and an SEC Tournament title nine times in the 17 years she’s been leading the Gamecocks. #4: U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) & former Alabama Football HC Nick Saban are part of a meeting next Tuesday with President Donald Trump to discuss college athletics. Tuberville: “The one thing we can do is we can make every state be on the same level [for NIL money]… Now, between that, we have to come up with some rules for transfer portals and possible contracts for players, all the things that make college football the greatest sport ever. We do not want to turn into minor league sports. We can do things, we just gotta get it passed. [...] I think we can get it on the floor, the problem is getting it past a Democrat group that really wants nothing to do with making this country better. They don't care about college sports or education, they worry about the power that they control in this country. It's a hard way to go, but if anybody can get it done, it's President Trump, and hopefully we can have some discussion to get on the right track toward helping the NIL and college sports. [...] Sooner or later, it'll affect the fans that pay that ticket not knowing who the players are with no loyalty. There's no carryover or loyalty to schools that these fans love to support.” (link)

#3: Akron names Gardner-Webb AD Andrew Goodrich as the Zips’ new AD. President R.J. Nemer: “I am thrilled to welcome Andrew Goodrich to the UA family. I know he will bring energy, enthusiasm and innovation to the Athletics Department.” Collegiate Sports Associates assisted with the search. (link)

#2: Marshall AD Christian Spears and the school have mutually agreed not to renew his contract, which expires in March of 2026. According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Spears will stay on as the AD until the school finds a replacement. Also from Thamel: “The timeline of lining up a replacement is not known. Select school officials have been briefed on the decision, per sources. An announcement of the plans is expected in the near future.” (link, link)
