The renovation is set to be completed in January 2028 and will be primarily funded by state capital funds. VP for University Relations and Athletics Matt Santos: “This upgrade to Keystone Hall will enhance the experience for student-athletes, coaches, staff, alumni and fans. It will help our coaches continue to recruit the best student-athletes, as it will provide an indoor facility that is second to none in the State System. Given that Keystone was built in 1971, it has had to be adjusted to accommodate a tremendous growth in athletics, including women's sports and sport expansion. This new facility will allow KU to be at the forefront of Division II intercollegiate athletic facility offerings in 2028 and beyond.” Renderings included. (link)

We wanted to ensure that Otter Athletics stands proudly alongside the broader Cal State Monterey Bay identity, representing the same values, energy, and vision for the future.” (link)

#2: Emporia State AD David Spafford will retire after three years in the chair. President Ken Hush: “During his tenure, David began the work to modernize the athletics program. #1: Limestone will close the institution at the end of this semester, citing “long-standing financial pressures, declining enrollment trends, and rising operational costs made it impossible for the institution to remain sustainable without the immediate influx of substantial funding.” Board of Trustees Chair Randall Richardson: “Despite exhaustive efforts to secure the funding necessary to continue our operations, we have come to the difficult conclusion that Limestone University has not been able to secure the necessary funding to sustain its operations. We want to thank the almost 200 recent supporters in the last two weeks who committed a collective $2.143 million. We had hoped that would be enough to sustain our institution. But in the final analysis, we could not continue operations on-campus or online without a greater amount of funding.” (link)
