#10: Northeastern State unveils its plan to add Men’s and Women’s Wrestling and Volleyball in 2026-28, followed by Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field in 2027-28, to increase its sport sponsorship to 18. AD John Sisemore: “Once our expansion is complete, we look to have over 300 new student-athletes on our campus. Working with Northeastern State University President Dr. Rodney Hanley and the NSU cabinet members, we knew this would be great for the future of NSU and huge for Tahlequah. For years, local high school student-athletes in these sports had to attend other regional universities, and now they will be able to choose Northeastern State and [we can] keep those talents close to home. There has been tremendous positive feedback for the addition of these programs, with the local popularity of wrestling, especially the rapid growth of women's wrestling, it would not be a surprise to see that sport competing at the NCAA Division I level soon.” (link)

#9: Lewis will discontinue varsity Men’s and Women’s Tennis and continue to offer tennis as a club sport. “Declining interest in tennis from prospective students, coupled with struggles to establish coaching stability, contributed to the final decision. The move will allow Lewis to focus on supporting its remaining 22 athletic programs at the highest levels.” (link)

#8:  The Peach Belt hires Troy (DI) Senior Assoc. AD for Compliance and Student-Athlete Success Santiago Pinzon as Deputy Commissioner. (link)

#7: Cal State San Marcos hires Regis Men’s Basketball HC Brady Bergeson for the same role leading the Cougars. (link)

#6: Westminster has been hit with two years probation after Track & Field student-athletes competed while ineligible, including at the direction of former HC Dan Quinn. Quinn instructed an academically ineligible female student-athlete to compete under the name of an eligible one and told male student-athletes to compete under absent student-athletes’ names as roster numbers dwindled so that the program could meet its sport sponsorship requirements. Quinn has been hit with a two-year show-cause penalty that requires a suspension from 20% of the indoor and outdoor T&F contests during his first year, in addition to a vacation of records and a $2,500 fine for WU. #5: Take a look at UAH’s new brand identity. “UAH has taken a thoughtful, strategic approach to unify its brand identity across all areas of the university, including our outstanding Athletics programs. This effort reflects the high standards and competitive excellence that define UAH both in the classroom and on the field. It also aligns with a broader University of Alabama System initiative to create a more cohesive visual identity among the three campuses — UAH, The University of Alabama, and The University of Alabama at Birmingham.” (link)

#4: NCAA VP of Academic and Membership Affairs Dave Schnase will also retire in September after three decades in Indianapolis. President Charlie Baker: “There may be no one who knows as much about the history, challenges and changes as Dave Schnase does. His contributions, mentorship, leadership, steady hand and calm and thoughtful way of handling issues and people make him a unique presence at the NCAA, for members and staff alike. As we've worked through the challenging task of modernizing many elements of our regulatory approach at the same time we continue to oversee and manage the rules we have, he has been at the center of this management and decision-making process. Dave made clear to me he wouldn't be at the NCAA forever but made clear to me he would be here to help us work our way through many of our biggest challenges which he has done. I wish him the very best as he moves on to whatever his next act will be and thank him immensely for all he has given to college sports and the NCAA.” (link)

#3: The Mountain East invites Shawnee State (NAIA) to become the league’s 12th member, starting July 2026, pending acceptance into the DII membership process. SSU also plans to add Football no later than the 2028 season. Charleston President/MEC Board of Directors President Martin Roth: “We are thrilled to welcome Shawnee State to the Mountain East Conference as we continue making our league one of the most competitive in the country. Shawnee State is a well-respected institution with strong leadership and a clear vision for institutional and athletic program growth. They embrace the MEC’s goals, including elevating the collective experience for our student-athletes. Shawnee State’s inclusion will strengthen the caliber of and bring fresh energy to our conference.” (link)

#2: Seton Hill AD Chris Snyder departs the university after 21 years “to look for new opportunities and challenges.” Snyder: “Together we have achieved so much: improved academic performance, significant growth of our rosters, and vastly expanded and upgraded our facilities. We have also integrated principles within athletics to make us look like a member of NCAA Division II. As I depart, Seton Hill is well positioned moving forward.” The institution will form an athletics management team to carry out the AD role in the short-term. (link)

#1: Mansfield AD Peggy Carl is no longer leading the Mountaineers, as Softball HC Edith Gallagher took over as Interim AD on July 1. The university has begun the search for AD Peggy Carl’s successor. (link)
