#7: New Luther AD Megan Wilson chats with LA Communications’ Darin Svenson about the opportunity in Decorah: “Luther's got a great foundation, but I think my hire and me coming in with some renowned energy is just going to be exciting for the community and the college and I'm excited to see where we can take Norse athletics. I really see big things on the horizon and I think the commitment to a full-time athletic director and being able to focus on our student-athlete experience and professional development for our coaches, it's a really exciting time for the Norse and I can't wait to get started.” On the changes around the NCAA and DIII: “I think we're a little bit isolated in the fact that it's not changing quite as rapidly, but I do think all of the changes at the Division I level are going to trickle down and affect the Division III level. I think it's worrisome, the landscape of the NCAA and higher ed and what are we going to do to make sure we're on stable ground and making sure our student-athletes are getting a great experience. […] It is rapidly changing and again, I don't think it's as prominent for Division III, but I think there are effects for Division III and I think those are things that we have to be strategic in planning for.” More. #2: NCAA EVP of Regulatory Affairs Stan Wilcox will retire on August 1 after nearly seven years with the national office. President Charlie Baker: “Stan told me shortly after I arrived at the NCAA that he would be retiring at the end of 2023. Toward the end of the year, he and I agreed that there was much to do, and it would be great if he could stay with us for a bit longer, which I really appreciated. As a result, he will be wrapping up a 40-year career as a student-athlete who played in a March Madness Final Four; an administrator and manager who served at the school, conference and NCAA level; and one of only three Black athletic directors to win an FBS national football championship. (Go Seminoles!) His relationships throughout the college and professional ranks and his ability to see issues from a variety of points of view have made him an invaluable leader and teacher during his time with the NCAA. I especially appreciated his insights and advice during this past year, which has involved more change in Division I college sports than any other in recent memory.” (link)

#1: Tufts will hire Rutgers (DI) Interim AD Ryan Pisarri as its new AD, per NJ Advance Media’s Brian Fonseca and Steve Politi. Parker Executive Search assisted with the process. (link)
