#10: RMAC Interim Commissioner Lexie Vernon spoke at RMAC Football Media Day at MSU Denver about the league, moving the RMAC Network behind the paywall and more. Amidst the changes happening in and around college athletics: “I think we have to stand true to what it is that we do, knowing who we are, what we do and why we do it. In the RMAC specifically, elevating learners and leaders in life – that’s our mission. That’s what we do on a regular basis. That’s my vision forward for the RMAC. We do a lot of things really well, but it’s a time of change and it’s a time for transformation and it’s an opportunity for us to stake our claim in Division II for what we do and truly why we do it.” The conference was one of four left in DII that did not have a pay-per-view model when their change was announced earlier this week. Vernon adding: “The RMAC Network since its inception has been free to our viewers or anyone that wanted to tune in to watch it at any point in time, but it has not been free for our institutions to produce it. It’s been a long time coming that the investment our institutions have been putting into our broadcasts is returned in a way that is consistent with the marketplace and how streaming sites are set up and what the expectation is for our viewers.” (link)
